School of Engineering and Applied Science
Welcome to the School of Engineering and Applied Science
Professor Ashok Kochhar, Head of School Engineering and the application of science has always been one of Aston University's major strengths. With a tradition of quality education stretching back for over a century, the University is respected by students, employers and professional institutions alike for its academic excellence in both teaching and research. The School was awarded a coveted 5 for
Research in the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2001, and there is a good and long established reputation for cutting edge research within the School involving real problem solving whilst advancing scientific knowledge. The academic staff undertaking this research teach on programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, so new ideas and theories are always being developed within the curriculum.
We are continually developing new
undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes to meet the current and future needs of employers. Within the field of Engineering and Applied Science postgraduate skills and a qualification enhance careers, especially when they have a practical application and relevance to the needs of industry. The University's graduate employment record is outstanding as each programme is carefully designed with industry in mind.
