Our School is situated in Bishop Middleham itself - a small semi rural village in the south east of County Durham, England. The village has three shops, three public houses and a church.
The original school on the village green was constructed in 1770 and remained in use until 1969 when the new purpose built school was opened a few hundred metres away. The old school has subsequently been converted to two houses. The new school was extended in 1976 to accommodate extra classrooms and in 1993 a small extension to the infant department provided a new cloakroom and improved toilet facilities.
Alterations have taken place we now have a computer suite and three re-modelled classrooms, new toilet facilities along with a secretary's office and reception area.
The school is semi open plan in design and has six main teaching areas, although currently there are only five classes.
The school building is separated into infant and junior departments by a hall which is used for dining, Collective Worship, Physical Education and other miscellaneous teaching activities. Off the hall there is a kitchen where meals are cooked and served on a daily basis.
The School office and staffroom are situated near to the main entrance of the school.
Outside the building there are three playground areas and a playing field. |
