The school has adopted the LA’s Admissions Policy. Children transfer to Carbeile from Torpoint Infants at the age of 7. Every effort is made to make the transfer process enjoyable and exciting. The school admits all eligible children who live in Torpoint and Wilcove and beyond provided the admission level is not exceeded.
Prospective parents should telephone the school office to arrange a look around the school and meet appropriate staff.
Carbeile School is organised as far as possible into mixed ability academic year groups. Each year group has a teacher who is a Year Group Leader. There are currently 3 x Y6, 3 x Y5, 3 x Y4 and 3 x Y3 classes.
Every teacher has a class and depending on the activity will teach the whole class, divide it into groups or set the children individual tasks. Each class has at least one Teaching Assistant.
Children are put into a house when they are admitted to school. The House System operates to reward children for achieving excellence and for endeavour. They can be awarded Team Points which are recorded in class or a Merit where they collect a badge from the Headteacher.
The initial pastoral care of the child is the responsibility of the class teacher during school sessions. There would be occasions when concerns over health or behaviour would be referred to the Year Group Leader, Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher.
