| Pupils enjoy access to a range of Expressive Arts activities through drama, P.E, and art. In addition to stimulating class lessons, the school also accesses visiting artists allowing pupils to be involved in extensive arts experiences. In the past, this has included photography workshops, silk printing and a vibrant music and drama production. P.E, is taught by Cunard School class teachers and takes place in Whitecrook Primary gym hall. Pupils enjoy school sporting event and strive to win the schoo 'SPORTS PERSONALITY' cup awarded for good teamwork and sportsmanship.
| All staff in Cunard are committed to working with parents to meet the needs of their pupils. Parents are invited to contact the Head Teacher at any time should they have a particular concern or query.
| Pupils in Cunard School are already part of a very small class. Support staff, working alongside the teacher can help with additional support needs in the class. The support staff member will prompt, encourage and motivate pupils under teacher direction. Where appropriate, they may scribe for a pupil. In addition, the Principal Teacher in Cunard School has responsibility for co-ordinating learning and behavioural support.
| Structured play has an integral role in the school curriculum. Cunard School is fortunate to have a purpose built and well resourced structured playroom. The school's Nursery Nurse, Miss Beverly Allen, co-ordinates all activities in this room. Primary 1 - 4 pupils are timetabled to work individually and in small groups at a range of play activities designed to promote early interaction and social skills. Many of our pupils have found their transition from the nursery environment to the infant classroom extremely difficult.
We hope to bridge this gap through the use of carefully assessed and monitored play targets. Play spans all curricular areas and can give a highly motivating and integrated context for the development of skills in all 5 -14 subject areas. Parents are welcome to come to the playroom and enjoy some of the activities, which they might later like to try out at home.
