This mission statement has been compiled following consultation with staff and governors.
The school will lay the foundations for life by offering a positive and challenging learning experience for all pupils. It will be characterised by high standards and expectations and a rich, broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum. This will be carried out in a happy, safe and supportive atmosphere.
There will be a strong commitment to helping all children achieve, underpinned by positive relationships with parents and the wider community. The school will keep parents well informed and will involve and consult with them on a range of issues both formally and informally.
We will provide for the children’s social, emotional, spiritual and cultural development. The foundation for this will be based on sound Christian values and beliefs. We will continue to strengthen our links with the church and develop an awareness of the cultures and lifestyles of others.
The children will be encouraged to develop independence, care for each other, lead healthy lives and take responsibility for their own actions. Everyone in school will promote high standards of behaviour based on a positive approach and the adults will be excellent role models for the children.
The School Leadership Team will continue to develop a curriculum that offers stimulating and exciting programmes of learning, keeping up to date and making changes and improvements over time. Subject leaders will play a major role in the monitoring and development of their own subjects. A range of teaching styles will be used to make learning fun and exciting.
Children will learn in a variety of ways by listening, watching and doing. They will learn through play, in class groups, small groups or individually. They will develop positive attitudes to learning and will take pride in their achievement. The adults in school will praise effort and achievement using the school reward systems to communicate this to the children.
High quality, appropriate resources will be used to engage children in meaningful and enjoyable activities. Audits will be conducted to evaluate the use and effectiveness of resources and to identify good value for money.
We will use the outside, the local and the global environment to extend learning. There will be visits out of school and visitors coming in to school to enrich teaching and learning. We will also provide activities outside school hours to extend the children’s learning in a pleasurable way.
The governors and school leadership team will drive its own improvement. They will set challenging targets by recognising that for the sake of the children we can always do better. Governors will provide support and act as critical friends. Through their involvement with school, they will make informed decisions to continue to move the school forward.
We will provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment. Funding will be used to ensure that the building both inside and outside is attractive and well maintained. Children will learn how to care for their environment and be involved in activities to promote this. We will ensure that everyone is able to access all areas of the building and maximise its use by involving the wider community.
We will offer every child – whatever their own characteristics – the chance to achieve their full potential, and we will achieve high standards for all children, giving them foundations for future learning, and for success in life. |
