Head's Welcome
Dear Visitors
Thank you for logging in to our new website. You may find that some pages have yet to be completed but I hope that you find some useful information.
As the Head of the school I am very pleased to welcome you to it. We are a small rural community which enjoys a delightful environment which we take every opportunity to enjoy. I am very proud of the school. We have happy, friendly and generous children, committed, skilled and talented staff and great families who support their children and the school. The PTFA is an active organisation which makes very significant contributions to funding special events and equipment. The Governing Body gives us strong support and it is increasingly benefiting from the expertise of new members in recent months. We work closely with the village playgroup from which most of our children transfer at 5. As a Church Aided school we have a close relationship with the parish church in the village which we visit for services as well as curriculum purposes. Our children prepare their own services to which the Parish is invited and also take part as musicians and singers in Sunday services.
Over the last few years we have achieved acknowledgement of our achievements through becoming a Dyslexia Friendly School, and have achieved the National Healthy Schools Award and the ActiveMark 2006. We are working on achieving a Bishop’s Commendation for our innovative methods of teaching RE through recognition of different learning styles. We have also been recognised as Outstanding in our support and care for children from the County Advisory Service. Our standards have improved over the past four years and we continue to move forward in all areas of our work and play.
The majority of our children transfer to Uckfield Community Technology College and we work with them to ensure a good transfer. The children take part in numerous activities such as the Kit Car Race, Maths and Science challenges, and this year a group is working at the college to construct a trebuchet!
At the younger end of the school children in Reception are welcomed before September through a Rising Fives group. This is run by Framfield Playgroup for all the children who are due to join us in September. This is a very successful group which means that all the children make a very good start to their school life. In addition the playgroup children visit the school to use our equipment and playground, and to take part in activity sessions with Class 1.
We are always happy to show visitors around our school, so please call us to arrange an appointment.
With kind regards
Janet Wilde
