Monday 8 October Book Fair
Throughout this week we will hold a School Book Fair in the hall from 3.30 to 4.15pm each day and during the Open Evenings. I would be grateful for some parental help to run this with me. Please let Mrs Heywood or me know if you are able to give approximately 45 minutes one night after school that week. Thank you. The Book Fair allows us to 'top up' the class and school libraries as we are given 50% in books of whatever you parents buy.
Monday 8 October Year 2 Visit
Mrs Park's class will visit St Paul's Cathedral as part of their history curriculum.
Tuesday 9 October Year 2 Visit
Mrs Whitehead's class will visit St Paul's Cathedral as part of their history curriculum.
Wednesday 10 October 11+ Test
The second 11+ test will take place this morning in the school hall.
Wednesday 10 October Parents' Evening 4.00 - 6.30pm
The first open evening of the year for parents of children in Year R through to Year 5 will take place. This will enable parents to meet their children's teachers and to see how the children have settled into their new classes.
Thursday 11 October Parents- Evening 6.00 - 8.30pm
The second open evening of the year will take place.
Friday 12 October School Photographer
The school photographer will be in school taking individual photographs and family groups (children only). Further information will be sent out nearer the time.
Saturday 13 October PTA Quiz Night
The PTA will be holding its first social event of the year, the very popular Quiz Night. Do please put the date in your diary and the PTA will send out further information later.
Monday 15 October Safe Cycling course
Thirty-two children in Year 6 will begin a cycling course today. It will be run by a National Standards tutor.
NB Children are not allowed to ride to school without an adult until they have passed a 'safe cycling' course. All riders must wear cycle helmets and bicycles should not be ridden, but wheeled, along the school drive for safety reasons.
Monday 15 October Governors' Meeting 7.00pm
The school governing body's first meeting of the new academic year will be held in school this evening.
Wednesday 17 October PGL Evening
Parents of children in Year 6 are invited to a meeting to discuss the proposed residential visit to Shropshire in June 2007.
Thursday 18 October 10am Key Stage 2 Harvest Festival
Traditionally we hold two Harvest Festivals. Key Stage 2 children (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) will lead theirs in the hall this morning. Parents are invited to attend.
Thursday 18 October PTA tea 3pm in the hall
The PTA would like to invite anybody who is interested in finding out a little more about their work or in joining the committee, to join them for an informal chat and refreshments in the hall.
Friday 19 October 2:30pm Key Stage 1 Harvest Festival
The children in Key Stage 1 (Reception, Years 1 and 2) will lead their Harvest Festival this afternoon. Again, parents are invited to attend.
Friday 19 October WASPS tag rugby festival
Two teams from Years 5 and 6 will attend a tag rugby festival organised by London WASPS community team.
Friday 19 October Break for Half Term
We break for half term at 3.30pm. School re-opens on Tuesday 30 October 2007 at 9.00am.
Wednesday 7 November PTA AGM 7.30pm
The PTA AGM will be held at 7.30pm in the school hall. Wine and nibbles will be served. I do hope to see you there.
Sunday 11 November Remembrance Sunday
Some of our children will lay a wreath at the Remembrance Ceremony at the Memorial Centre in Gerrards Cross this morning. Also, the usual 10.30am St James Church Memorial Centre Service will be held in our school hall on this occasion.
Wednesday 21 November FACT assemblies
Simon Shutt from the Faith Awareness in Children Trust will return today to lead two further assemblies.
Thursday 22 November Year 5 Visit
Year 5 will visit Sulgrave Manor as part of their history work about the Tudor period.
Friday 23 November Non-Uniform Day
We will hold our traditional non-uniform day for the PTA Christmas Fair. Children are asked to bring a gift for the children?s room in exchange for wearing clothes of their own choice.
Monday 26 November
Image Theatre will visit school today and will give two performances of 'The Snow Queen', one to Key Stage One and one to Key Stage Two.
Saturday 1 December PTA Annual Christmas Fair
The PTA will be holding its annual Christmas Fair. Further details will be sent to you in due course.
Monday 3 December Governors' Meeting 7.00pm
The governors will meet in school this evening at 7.00pm.
Wednesday 5 December Carols in the Village 6.00pm
The Gerrards Cross Christmas Festival will begin with carol singing in Station Road. Traditionally children and families from our school help to lead the carol singing before enjoying refreshments and Christmas shopping throughout the village. More details will follow nearer to the time.
Tuesday 18 December Nativity Play 2.30pm
The first performance of the Key Stage One (Year R, 1 and 2) Nativity play will take place at 10.00am. Younger brothers and sisters are welcome to attend but if babies or small children become distracting, please could they be taken our of the hall as some parents (and grandparents) have been unable to hear their child's carefully rehearsed lines in the past.
