Our School
Heathery Knowe primary school is presently the oldest school in East Kilbride. The school was opened for the first pupils in August 1953.
Heathery Knowe was originally opened as a temporary school while the building of our neighbours, Murray Primary was completed. However, over fifty years later we are still going strong. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary in August 2003.
The school building has had some major refurbishment over the last twelve years and is wearing well. We have a wonderful garden in the centre of the school called the ‘Flower Pot Garden’ which is used by all pupils, nursery children, staff, parents and visitors to the school. In the good weather we use the garden for events.
Heathery Knowe is a vibrant and happy school and working in partnership with our parents and our community is of paramount importance to us. We are fortunate to have a very active and supportive School Board and P.T.A.
We also have a School Council made up of two representatives from each class, Primary one to Primary seven, staff members, parent members and community members. Our School Council are often the ‘movers and shakers’ in Heathery Knowe and all the pupils take their role very seriously. They certainly keep the Head Teacher and the staff on their toes!
The staff team in Heathery Knowe are committed and hard working and they strive to ensure a positive and supportive ethos in the school and with the help of our pupils, a warm welcome to all who come through our doors is a certainty.
