Hungerford Primary School opened in May 1971. It has grown considerably since the early days and now has a school population of 460 pupils.
There has been a planned investment programme to help the school develop, including a large new infant and nursery block, the provision of new junior classrooms and a complete upgrading of all glazing, window frames and entrances to the Junior block. There are also plans for continued improvements over the next 5 years.

The eighteen members of our teaching staff work with single age groups and are committed to providing a broad and balanced education in relation to both the National Curriculum and more recently the literacy, numeracy and ITC strategies.
The are 18 teachers supported by a team of 14 fully qualified teaching assistants who assist in a variety of ways to deliver the curriculum. We also have a team of 14 Midday Assistants. The resources provided were recognised by OFSTED as being of a high quality. We also have a team of twelve midday Assistants who care for the children during the midday break.

The school also has a maintenance officer, secretary, clerical assistant,cook and cleaning and kitchen staff.
The Staff are well supported by the Governors, many of who help us on a daily basis in the class areas. Staff and Governors regularly attend courses to up-date their expertise and knowledge in the ever-widening field of educational development.
The driving force in all that we do is to provide a quality education for all the children in our care.

As a school we also aim to provide a welcoming, attractive, secure and stimulating environment in which each child can develop mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, at a rate and level appropriate to his/her needs.
