Anne Peters, Head Teacher

Selecting a school for our children is one of the most important decisions we ever make. The contents and information on our website have been put together to enable you to make an informed choice.

A full and more comprehensive school brochure is available from the school. Contact us by telephone or by email. Alternatively, to find out first hand if Ladymede is right for your child, arrange to visit the school and see the school in action on a normal school day.

Everything that occurs within Ladymede has the children and their individual needs at its heart. The warm caring atmosphere that our school actively encourages enables all children and staff to strive towards individual goals. We aim to make school as pleasant as possible while children are positively encouraged to achieve their potential. A happy child is usually a hard working child. Within this background all staff aim to promote a caring stimulating environment in which all children can learn. Education is a partnership between child, teacher and parents.

Every child has talents and these are to be promoted and encouraged in all aspects of school with each child feeling valued.

ADMISSIONS

Thank you for your interest in Ladymede School. As a GEMS managed school, we recognise that the investment you are making in your child's education is the most important one you will ever make.  We are committed to delivering an education with unlimited return that provides everything your child needs to grow into an exceptional adult.

Parents seeking admission should, in the first instance, make an appointment to meet the Head Teacher and to view Ladymede.

During the tour parents have the opportunity to view a variety of lessons, speak with relevant teachers and ask questions about the future education needs of their child.

Parents are then requested to fill in a registration form enclosing a non refundable registration fee of £50. The registration process adds the child's name to the list for the term and year indicated. It does not guarantee a place.

Parents who wish their child to join the Nursery and Reception classes are invited to bring their child to spend informal time in the relevant class (see admissions policy). The offer of a place is set out in the Admissions Policy.

Entrance in Forms I to VI is by assessment, the precise nature of which varies according to age. Subject to a successful assessment a firm offer will be made.

CURRICULUM

Ladymede Pirate day

At Ladymede we are interested in developing the whole child in academic, creative and sporting activities.

The academic aspects are carefully balanced and all pupils encouraged to strive to their individual level of ability.

Full details are available on a visit to the school and by talking to the staff members responsible for the curriculum areas.

Form I / Form II

The secure yet challenging environment of our Key Stage One classrooms encourages children to become independant learners and motivated individuals.

The majority of the school curriculum is taught by the class teacher with specialist teaching in Music, PE, ICT and French. We recognise individual strengths and celebrate the successes of our children in all areas and are proud of achievements at their own level.

During Key Stage One children grow and develop their interests, attitudes and approaches to life. It is an important time to be nurtured and guided. At Ladymede we encourage our children to become free thinkers and confident young people as they move into Key Stage Two.

Learn.  Aspire.  Be.

Even though GEMS schools consistently attain high standards of academic achievement, proven by external examination results well above the national average, we know that providing what children need to become exceptional adults requires more than just academics.

GEMS schools embrace a philosophy of preparing the students for the world and the challenges of the future.  GEMS unique perspective to education provides opportunities for students to develop to their full potential.

A kaleidoscope of extra-curricular activities, community involvement programmes and school events support GEMS education programmes. Exploration, innovative problem solving, independent expression and decision making are actively encouraged.  As a result students become informed, confident and active learners with a strong sense of self.

Four cornerstones form the foundation of our educational programmes. These Core Values are unique to GEMS, and are part of the planned curriculum, woven into the very fabric of school life from as early as Kindergarten.
