Longford Park is a grant maintained Primary School for pupils aged 3 to 11. From September 2005, we will have approximately 210 children on roll with a further 52 children attending part-time in our nursery class.
Our aim for all our children is to enable them to work to achieve at the highest standards of which they are capable. We place great emphasis on academic achievement (language, mathematical, scientific and technological skills) and the social and personal skills a child needs to become a responsible citizen.
Children are taught in a class of approximately 30 children. There is appropriate specialist support for English, music and special needs. A feature of the school is the large number of teaching and learning staff who work with each class. .
The school seeks to be actively involved in projects and initiatives that will enhance our children’s experiences. We have strong relationships with Powertrain (Jaguar) and volunteers from that company and others support the school in a variety of ways. We provide training for teachers who wish to progress to the National Professional Qualification for Headship and act as a host school for national initiatives involving ICT. We are a former Beacon school and are a full partner of Warwick University.
The school is in an “Excellence in the City” school and this enables access to greater funding opportunities.
Good behaviour is a school expectation and the school employs a wide range of approaches to ensure this.
All classrooms from nursery to Year 6 have Interactive Whiteboards. Computer literacy is a characteristic of staff and children. Children with staff assistance manage a school web site which displays activities, policies and useful links. This is currently being rebuilt but can be found at www.longfordpark.coventry.sch.uk .
If you require further information about the school or wish to arrange a visit please telephone 7668 7688 and we will assist you.
Yours sincerely
