Welcome to
Maney Hill Primary School
We are a one form entry, seven class primary school. The maximum intake per year group is 30. Classes are of mixed ability.
Our Reception Class is part of an early years centre which is separate from the main building. They have their own classroom which is larger than the average classroom and incorporates its own toilet and cloakroom, carpeted quiet area, wet area, including child height sinks and cookery area, as well as a main teaching area. To support the Foundation Curriculum a new outdoor classroom has been constructed with direct pupil access from the classroom.
On the same site there is an Independent Day Care Centre called 'Lollipops' which offers before and after school provision for children. Places are limited, please enquire at Lollipops if you are interested in this facility. Their telephone number is 0121 354 2445 .
The School has a separate classroom, which has been named the ‘Bond Suite’ by the children. All classes use this room for music lessons, peripatetic music tuition, lunchtime clubs and occasional community use.
There is a large field area at the back of the School which is used for games and extending various aspects of the curriculum out of doors. The School has a recently opened a Sensory Garden and has drawn up plans for further development of its grounds.

Our School is well placed to make effective use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in children’s learning. We have a designated ICT Suite, which enables all classes to have timetabled, skill based lessons with one computer to every two children. Classrooms have additional networked computers and there is a library systems computer. Internet access by the children is carefully supervised and adheres to the agreed school policy. |

The School was inspected by OFSTED in December 2005 and received a favourable report. We have responded to recommendations in the report through the School Action Plan and each year’s School Improvement Plan. Like all primary schools we are currently implementing the National Literacy Strategy and the National Numeracy Strategy and the Foundation Curriculum for Reception Class children. In January 2000 we were awarded the Quality Mark for Basic Skills teaching and in January 2003 Basic Skills 2 and December 2005 Basic Skills 3. The School achieved the Healthy Schools Award in June 2004. The School has recently achieved the Artsmark Gold by the Arts Council of England in recognition of its comprehensive provision of Art, Music, Dance and Drama.
