Welcome to Marlborough Infant School

About Us
By the time they leave this school, we want our children to be literate, numerate and have a love of learning. We want them to be happy, confident individuals who respect others and are socially and emotionally well adjusted. At all times, we are conscious of children's differing abilities and interests. Schools are not factories turning out a standard product, each child is a very complex individual.
School Aims
- To provide a happy and purposeful environment in which pupils can develop self-confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline in order to achieve their highest potential
- To help pupils develop personal moral values as a basis for their behaviour, in particular, honesty, fairness, respect for others, and a knowledge of right and wrong
- To enable children to read and write fluently and develop a love of books
- To stimulate children’s interest and curiosity in the world around them through observation, investigation and experimentation
- To enable pupils to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to life, and to develop a positive attitude towards work
- To enhance each child’s creativity and aesthetic appreciation
- To provide children with a knowledge of Christianity, an awareness of other religions and a respect for each other regardless of race, religion and way of life
- To enable children to enjoy sport and to recognise the importance of exercise for a healthy lifestyle
- To increase children’s respect for their local environment and awareness of sustainable development
We believe that it is vital that sufficient demands and challenges are made on children whilst they are learning. We encourage children to think and reason for themselves and to use their own initiatives. The learning environment is calm and disciplined so that children are able to acquire necessary skills. We believe that it is very important that children look forward to coming to school and feel secure, then they can make the most of their learning opportunities.
The school has been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark for Primary Schools. Our success relies on a flourishing partnership between home and school. This can be identified in many ways: helping your child with reading, classroom help, and supporting school functions.
