Middleton Primary School opened in September 2003 with about 180 children, which has now risen to 340. We educate pupils from Foundation Stage (4 year olds) to Year 6 (11 year olds). Over the next few years we will reach our full capacity of 420.
In the summer of 2004 we moved into our beautiful new, purpose-built building. The building has attracted much attention because of its innovative design and we have appeared on TV, radio and in the national newspapers and were runners up in a National design competition.
Work has finished on landscaping the site and now includes include a sensory garden, a wildflower meadow, outdoor classrooms and a pond as well as the trees, shrubs and sports pitches.
At Middleton self esteem, confidence, emotional intelligence and internal motivation are seen as key factors in learning and we place great emphasis on positive relationships, good manners and high standards of behaviour.
We work hard to ensure that starting school at Middleton is a positive experience for pupils and have appointed a Learning Mentor to ensure that all pupils are happy at our school. We welcome parents as partners in their child's education and hold regular Open mornings, Parents' evenings, Consultation evenings and Numeracy and Literacy workshops.
A number of parents come into school to help and we are always pleased to add to our list of volunteers. Throughout the year there are many events such as Sports Day, Spring Fair, Arts Week and Multicultural week when parents can come along and support their children and the school. We also work very hard developing strong links with the wider community and several clubs use the school premises throughout term time.
You will find lots of information on our website but the best way to find out what any school is really like is to come and have a look around and we look forward to welcoming you to Middleton.
