Muiredge Primary School
Muiredge Primary stands in Watson Street, Uddingston.
The school is a non-denominational primary school with a current roll of 401 . In, what now seems a long time ago, September 1998 our Nursery opened in the grounds of the main school. This has flourished and can accommodate up to 80 3-5 year olds within the day.
We have an active school board and PTA. We value our close links with parents and take every opportunity to encourage parental involvement at all levels within the school, both in and out of school.
Muiredge is a school which prides itself on open, participative management. We have a Staff Consultative Committee who are involved in shaping and supporting developments throughout the session.
Our aim is to provide quality learning experiences within a safe, caring environment where everyone has an opportunity to achieve their potential and develop as happy, informed and confident individuals.
In a questionnaire conducted as part of our school audit, parents commented very positively on the friendly, open, happy and committed members of staff in Muiredge. It is our aim to build on these sound foundations and to offer the best education we can.
Throughout the year we encourage many out of school activities. We have a school football team (girls and boys), a keen badminton group, netball and computer clubs, supported by staff and parents.
Muiredge established our first Pupils' Council in the 2001 session and, along with our Green Scene group, the elected pupils are actively engaged in supporting the school. Together the Pupil Council and Green Council, whose focus is embodied in our eco code, worked to become the first school in South Lanarkshire eligible to fly the green flag. Our eco status was confirmed on Friday 23 June 2000 with the presentation of the eco flag to the Green Council by Michael McMahon MSP. Our good work continued over the years and in May 2003 we received our second eco flag. |
