Very often the first thing people read about a school is the inspection report - our latest report (January 2007) gives a clear indication of all the amazing things that are going on in our school and we are really proud of it.  There is still more we can continue to do to help our children learn more effectively. Our school is always improving and is very forward-thinking. We have included a copy of the report below for you to see how well we are doing. We have also included some of the key planning documents that detail the improvements that we will continue to make over the next few years. If you have any questions about these, please do get in touch with me or any of my colleagues.

At Parson Street we try and make the most of learning. Our school motto encourages us to learn to LIVE and to live to LEARN. We all need to be learners throughout our lives. Whether we are teachers, support staff, governors, parents or children, our aim is that our whole school community will be active learners. Parson Street Primary School is situated on the southern side of Bristol, 2-3 miles from the city centre. It serves part of the Bedminster district, which is predominantly an area of pre-war housing. The school was originally housed in a traditional building dating from 1908.

In 1989 the building was extensively remodelled to update the facilities. This work included the addition of four infant classrooms, a new Reception and Office area and staffroom. A new Music Room was built in 1994. The Language Room has been created, and we also have two additional Elliot Classrooms. We have a Nursery Unit on the site which takes pupils from a wide area. Our facilities include a 15 base computer suite, a library, small learner swimming pool and a separate dinning hall.

The school grounds, whilst not large, do offer a wide range of opportunities for our pupils. In addition to the hard play surfaces we have a much loved adventure challenge area, a conservation area and pond, a shade area, a newly planted copse and extensive seating. The school occasionally uses Marksbury Road playing fields and South Street field for outdoor games and activities.

To see more of the school, take our tour around the buildings and grounds. The school caters for children from 3 - 11 years. The pupil admission number is 58 each year. The Governing Body is committed to maintaining maximum class sizes of 30 for the academic year 2004 / 2005. There are currently 400 children on roll, plus 50 (full-time equivalent) Nursery children. All classes are of mixed ability grouping and are arranged in parallel classes, two per year group.

Parson Street Primary School Nursery is part of our school. We have the equivalent of 50 full-time children in our nursery. We have two teachers and three nursery nurses to look after the children. The children work on the Foundation Stage Curriculum and are assessed against the Bristol Nursery Profile document.

This is an exciting period of development for the Foundation Stage at Parson Street and we are making huge improvements to the education that we offer to our children. Children attending our nursery are able to move very easily into the Reception class, overseen by our Foundation Stage Leader.

We all go to Parson Street Primary School and we are in Year 2.

Our classes are good at maths but especially partitioning. We are super at handwriting because we can join our letters neatly. We like geography when we find out about our local area. Most of us are great at study focus and we particularly enjoyed finding out about Florence Nightingale.

In Year 2 we all love learning because we know it will help us in shops, in our jobs, at home and when we grow up.
