St Edward’s is a Voluntary Aided Catholic School under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Northampton.

Our school is located on the eastern side of Aylesbury. It is adjacent to St Joseph’s Catholic Infant School with which we maintain a close working relationship.

Our school has nine classrooms, a PE hall, a multi-media resource area, an oratory and a music room.

Our building stands in an open sports field. It is surrounded by hedgerows which provide an opportunity for the study of wildlife habitats. There are two tarred areas which provide netball pitches, games grids and all weather play surfaces.

The school is maintained by the Diocese in partnership with the Local Education Authority, Buckinghamshire County Council. It serves principally the parishes of St Joseph’s, Our Lady of Lourdes and Guardian Angels.

Children attend St Edward’s for the whole of their Key Stage 2 schooling, entering at the beginning of Year 3 and transferring to Secondary Schools at the end of Year 6.

St Edward’s School is a Roman Catholic Foundation Voluntary Aided School primarily intended for the education of Roman Catholic children.

Responsibility for the admission of pupils rests solely with the Board of Governors who administer the policy.  The Governors will discharge their statutory obligation to provide a place for a pupil with a statement of special educational needs when the school has been named in the statement.  The Governors will then admit up to the standard number of 65 pupils.  Places will be made available to eligible pupils in accordance with the following criteria and order of priority.

GIRLS

Tie

White Shirt (not open neck blouse)

Grey Skirt or Pinafore (approximately knee length)

Grey Tailored Trousers 

Grey or White Socks (knee or ankle length only)

Navy or Grey Tights

Royal Blue Pullover

Black or Navy Shoes (up to a 5cm heel). No boots or wedges

In summer, girls may wear a blue and white checked or striped dress.

FOOTWEAR

A change of footwear is requested for indoor wear as all the classrooms are carpeted. Flat black shoes or plimsolls should be worn indoors. Trainers may not be worn indoors, only for outside play and games.

JEWELLERY

Items of jewellery such as rings and earrings constitute a hazard on the playground, in the PE Hall and classrooms. Pupils are required to comply with the school’s Health and Safety regulations regarding the wearing of jewellery. Earrings, rings and other jewellery are not permitted. Children wearing jewellery will be excluded from PE lessons.

No nail varnish or make-up is permitted.

PE KIT

The kit consists of a white t-shirt and navy blue shorts. Trainers may be worn for outdoor games. Ideally, kits should be kept in a draw string bag, clearly marked with the child’s name. No bermuda style or lycra shorts are allowed.
