St Helen's is a Voluntary Aided Junior School for 7-11 year olds based in Essex.
St. Helen's is a happy, caring school where we love and follow Jesus.
We aspire to make learning enjoyable and challenging for everyone.
We work in partnership with our school family and wider community.
St. Helen’s Junior School was built in 1973 to replace the previous school in Ingrave Road, Brentwood. It serves the Catholic parishes of Brentwood and Warley, Ongar and Ingatestone. There are fourteen classrooms, ten in the main building and 4 classrooms in the new block. The school has a dual-purpose hall used for assembly, school Masses and school meals. The hall is well equipped Physical Education activities. There are changing rooms for boys and girls. The administrative area consists of a room for the Head, secretaries, staff and medical room. There is a fully equipped ICT suite which can accommodate 32 pupils.
The school has a heated, covered swimming pool, which is used throughout the year by the Junior School and some schools in the area. The schools playing fields are adjacent to the building.
The school is situated in a pleasant rural area within 10-15 minutes walking distance from Brentwood Town centre.

The school aims to educate children to a living and active faith, to develop intellectual skills, to promote qualities of mind, spirit and imagination, by helping children search for God, to come to know Him and enter into a personal relationship with Him.

| THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND CLASS ORGANISATION
Classes are organised in year groups. Each class is organised into ability groups for Maths and English and mixed ability groups for other subjects. There needs to be order and discipline in the classroom. There are skills that the child needs to acquire and these skills are more easily learned within a structure proceeding by stages, relating to what has gone before and what is to follow.
The achievement of goals is important. Teachers use a variety of teaching methods ensuring that children are motivated and that their learning is aimed at understanding and not simply memorising.
Children are given and are expected to complete on time formal homework.
