Our site provides up to date information on the school, its aims, curriculum and activities and provides an additional form of communication to our community. It is designed to help you if you are considering The Endeavour as a school for your child, or to be a guide to you if you are already part of the school.

At The Endeavour we share our parents’ concerns for the education and well being of their children and can confidently say that the school has a happy, caring and industrious atmosphere. You will notice that education at The Endeavour is more than the core curriculum because we are also totally committed to developing the creative, physical, emotional and social side of all our children.

On this site we can provide only a brief picture of the range of activities, resources and opportunities we make available to our children. We can tell you about the curriculum, our aims, activities and successes, but we cannot convey our ethos or atmosphere. The best way to make an informed decision is to visit, preferably during the school day. I am very proud of The Endeavour School and always find it a pleasure to show parents round.

Mission Statement

We seek to develop the intellectual, physical, moral and social potential of every pupil in the school, always encouraging them to work towards achieving their personal best.

The school is an inclusive society committed to an education and environment that provides equal opportunity for all regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual preference, class or disability.  Individual needs are addressed through a broad and balanced curriculum.  Our pupils are encouraged to become responsible citizens, able to effectively express their needs, thoughts and feelings and able to respond appropriately to the demands of living in the community.

We aim to extend the opportunities for pupils to experience learning and social experiences in other schools and the wider community.  Through Community Learning in Partnership we also support the needs of students, parents and staff from other schools and organisations within our community.

We work in partnership with parents and pupils to give the best care and education possible to enable all to share hopes and concerns.  It is our sincere aim that pupils will feel valued and, in turn, will value themselves and others.

Main Aim
The curriculum is designed to provide for all students, in a safe and secure environment conducive to learning, the opportunities to:

• Experience a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum which encourages them to fulfil their potential.

• To develop their ability to enquire, discover, think and reason in order to become independent learners and be able to make responsible decisions. 

• Develop in each pupil a sense of responsibility, self confidence and self worth.

• Progress with confidence to the next stage of their life and education through a process which encourages them to engage in life-long learning.

• Prepare for adult working life and to become an effective citizen caring for the community with respect, harmony and tolerance.

• Develop for themselves an active and healthy lifestyle.

Entitlement

At the Endeavour School the pupils have an entitlement to study all areas of the National Curriculum.  The timetable is divided into lessons of 55 minutes duration. There are 5 periods in a day. All classes are timetabled for a daily English and Maths lesson.  All other National Curriculum subjects are allocated lesson time according to the required national standards.

Key Stage 1

Classes are taught mainly by class teacher and predominantly delivered through a topic based approach.  In addition to the subject curriculum emphasis is placed on the acquisition of language play and social skills.

Key Stage 2/3

Classes begin to experience individual subjects often taught by specialist members of staff.  They remain with their form teacher for English and Maths.  In addition pupils are encouraged to further develop their skills in thinking and reasoning. 

Key Stage 4

Whilst continuing in their learning of English and Maths pupils begin to follow an agreed national syllabus for accreditation.

Entry Level Certification is offered in the following subjects:

Maths
English
Science
Technology – Design and Food Technology
Art
PE
ICT

In addition to the above, pupils at key stage 4 have the opportunity to achieve an accredited First Aid certificate.

Enterprise skills have been introduced into the curriculum. Other work-related learning takes place through PSHE/Citizenship and additionally
Careers education and advice is offered to pupils through collaboration with Connexions.

Pupils are able to access work experience in both years 10 and 11.

A large range of extra-curricular activities are available to the pupils.
At lunch times sports clubs include:

~  basketball ~  trampolining ~  football ~  hockey ~  boccia ~  swimming Music clubs include: ~  choir ~  keyboard ~  violin ~  brass band

In addition, there is a chess and board games club at lunch time as well as IT clubs.  Technology club is provided for senior pupils after school each Wednesday.  The school has a Karate club which meets weekly. 

Clubs are inclusive.  Boys and girls may attend and from all age groups, Technology club being the exception for safety reasons. 

Additional activities are often made available by local Specialist Colleges, of which we make full use.  Drama, music and art are examples of workshops made available to our pupils.
