Every child has something valuable to offer. We think that in small groups guided by enthusiastic staff, we can find and nurture a child's gift and give each the confidence to tackle life's challenges with spirit and determination.
Yarrells Preparatory School is an independent 'country' school for boys and girls between 2 and 13, in the suburban village of Upton, near the breathtaking scenery of Poole harbour on the historic Dorset coastline.
Whether you are a current student, Old Yarrellian, current or prospective parent or just a casual browser, we hope you will find this site to be a useful source of up-to-date information about life at Yarrells.
Application
Before making a formal application to the school, we recommend that you visit the school, by appointment, to see for yourself the workings of the school during a normal school day.
After that, should you wish to take an application further, we will provide you with a full brochure pack and relevant forms required for the application process.
Should you wish to make an appointment for a visit, then please telephone the school secretary.
Uniform
Our uniform is smart, tough, easy to care for and is suited to the children's needs.
School uniform can be purchased from Bartletts which is located at 45 East Street in Wimborne.
There is a second hand uniform sale twice a term on the school premises. All profits form the sales are given to the costume department to enhance the numerous school productions.
If you would like to volunteer to help at the school uniform sales, please contact the school.
Parents at Yarrells
A close and productive liaison is encouraged between the School and parents.
Parents are warmly welcomed at concerts, exhibitions, services in Church, at special morning assemblies, sporting events, performances and social functions.
The parents' association, The Friends of Yarrells, is very active and works with the headmistress, Mr Covell, staff, and pupils on numerous social and fund-raising activities over the calendar year.
Formal parent/staff conferences take place several times a year but informal communication is easy in our small and welcoming environment.
A detailed Parent Guide is issued to all new parents of children starting at Yarrells.
