Outstanding graduate employment record

Aston University has a graduate employment record that is second to none.

In 2006 The National average for graduates entering employment was 71%, from Aston it was 84%, the highest proportion for a mainstream University in England and Wales. (Source HESA DLHE survey 2006, the most recent survey).

In 2005, the proportion of Aston Graduates entering “Graduate Level” employment or further study was the 9th highest percentage of all 109 UK Universities (source Times Good University Guide 2007). Aston was also the highest ranked University outside London and the South of England on this factor. More on graduate employment

Between 1987 and the present day, a higher proportion of our graduates have found employment within 6 months of graduation than those of any other British University.

High Quality

Aston is ranked 12th overall out of 113 UK Universities in The Good University Guide 2008, published in The Telegraph and sponsored by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, published in July 2007.

Aston University also is ranked 15th out of all 110 UK Universities in the Times Good University Guide 2008, placing us amongst the elite of British Higher Education.

The Guardian University Guide 2007 ranks Aston University 19th out of over 120 UK Universities and Colleges.

Aston University has always been known for quality teaching and student support and we are rightly proud of our degree programmes. Over 70% of our students are studying for degrees assessed by the Quality Assurance Agency as “excellent”, with ratings of 22 out of 24 and higher.

Over 85% of Aston’s academic staff undertakes research activity recognised as being of outstanding international quality.

Green, Campus in the centre of Birmingham

With a compact single site campus with lots of green space and extensive social, student support and sporting facilities, everyone gets to know everyone really quickly. Most first years live in campus accommodation, and make the most of the University’s wide range of social facilities, and the easy walk into the centre of Birmingham. Sandwich and year abroad placements

Over 70% of undergraduates choose sandwich or language degree programmes. These include industrial, professional, business/management, scientific/health and language placement opportunities, allowing students to utilise their skills in the workplace. The placement opportunities are co-ordinated by the University. This valuable (and often paid) experience makes Aston students even more attractive to potential employers. more
