Welcome to Ysgol Llandrillo

This is a County Primary School which accepts children on a part-time basis in the September following their third birthday and full-time in the September following their fourth birthday. It is a daily, bilingual and co-educational school.

This website provides the parents of both present and future pupils with information on the work and administration of the school.

Although the information contained in it is accurate at the time of typing it cannot be presupposed that no changes will occur which could have an effect on the arrangements before the start or during the school year.

Headteacher's Letter

Dear Parents,
It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Ysgol Gynradd Llandrillo (Llandrillo County Primary School). Which was established on the present site around 1850.

I take this opportunity to welcome your child/ren and yourselves as parents into the School family. I look forward to your son/daughter developing into a pleasant and sociable individual, who will be able and willing to direct his/her personal talents for the mutual benefit of himself/herself and the School. You can be assured that I and all members of Staff will do our utmost to maintain a happy and purposeful environment at the School. To achieve this, we rely on your co-operation as parents, realising that we have a common aim, the ultimate good of the individual child, and a school of which we can all be proud.

If you already have a child attending the School you will no doubt know much of what goes on, but to those of you who are parents of children entering the School for the first time I hope the information on this website will be of assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Gwenda Owen

RECEPTION POLICY

Children are received into the school in the September following their fourth birthday. Arrangements are made to meet the parents/guardians of these children at the start of the Summer Term to present information on the school and to distribute registration documents. The children themselves are invited to visit the school at the end of term.

THE SCHOOL DAY

Morning session: 9.00 - 12.00
Afternoon Session: 1.00 - 03.15

Parents who need to make alternative arrangements must consult the Headteacher.

Arrival at School
The school does not take responsibility for children before 8.50am and parents who wish to send their children to school early should obtain the Headteacher's permission. We would also appeal to parents who deliver their children to school by car to take great care of the road and when parking.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is essential if a child is to make the best possible progress. The school must explain every incidence and must decide whether the absence is "authorised" (e.g.due to illness) or "unauthorised" (e.g. going shopping). We ask parents to inform the school why the child is/has been absent or was late arriving at school either by letter, a telephone call or a personal visit. An explanation received from the child alone is not sufficient. If an explanation is not received the school will write to the parents requesting a reason and unless an answer is received the absence will be recorded as "unauthorised". Where there are cases of regular absences, or an obvious pattern of late arrival the Headteacher will request an interview with the parents, and if a satisfactory explanation is not received the matter will be referred to the Education Welfare Service.

Parents who have arranged a family holiday during term time should fill in the appropriate form beforehand.

At the end of the year the school reports to parents on the number of "authorised" and "unauthorised" absences. Attendance statistics for the previous academic year are announced at the end of the Summer Term as part of the Governors' Annual Report to Parents.
