Henry Prince is a small village Church of England school and currently has around 60 pupils. These range in age from 3 to 9 years and are split into three classes as follows :-

Class 1   Early years/Reception                               
Class 2  Year1/Year2
Class 3  Year3/Year4

The staff consists of the Head Teacher plus 1 full time teacher, 2 part time teachers and 9 non-teaching staff.  As you can see we have a really good staff/pupil ratio.

As well as parental help and support we have close links with various sectors of the local community including the church and local businesses.

AIMS

1.   To promote the highest standards of teaching and learning, to enable the children to become successful, independent learners who achieve their very best.

 2.   To promote a school community where children behave with care, consideration and  co-operation.

3.   To provide a caring and secure environment by ensuring that discipline is applied in a fair and consistent manner encouraging respect for others.

4.   To develop healthy lifestyles for all those within our school community.

5.  To encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s education and to be part of the ‘school family’.

VISION STATEMENT

The Henry Prince First School is a community where the road to life long learning begins. We aim to nurture happy, confident, caring children with positive attitudes to learning. That while keeping the values and traditions of a village school, working in partnership with our church and community, we will ensure thechildren are equipped for the challenges of the 21^st Century. We serve the parishes of Mayfield, Ellastone, Wootton and Stanton.

We are able to admit pupils into our Foundation Stage Classroom from the age of 3 years providing their 4th birthday falls between the academic year of 1st September to 31st August.  We offer part time provision which are morning sessions from 9.00 - 1.00.
