At Pegasus School all education, therapy and care are focussed on the development of interactive skills. Giving students the skills to communicate effectively increases their motivation and confidence, allowing them to access the wider curriculum.
Classrooms are large and spacious, allowing teachers the freedom to set up individualised work and play areas without overcrowding. Students also have access to a gym, light and dark rooms as well as soft play facilities.
We aim to meet our students’ needs by fulfilling our Social Inclusion Policy in the areas of:
- Physical needs
- Social needs
- Learning needs
- Emotional needs
- Material needs
- Medical needs
Also to create a social and learning environment that addresses behavioural difficulties through the development of core interactive skills.
At Pegasus School we aim to redress these areas in an holistic and therapeutic manner. We emphasise initially:
- Interpersonal targets such as social communication and social organisation
- Careful balance of intellectual targets to develop confidence and self image
- Appropriate use of choice and motivation
These skills underlie all achievements in learning and should be the basic tools of the instructor.
As part of the Inclusion Policy all students within post compulsory education and training have the opportunities to college link courses, work experience and regular community access during the formal and extended curriculum. |
