Tansley Primary School, for children age 5 -11 years, is in the heart of a small idyllic village near Matlock on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire. The school and its grounds are completely inaccessible to through traffic. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and superb outdoor facilities.  Our vision is to provide a well-balanced and excellent standard of education within the safe, caring and happy environment of a village school.

AIMS

At Tansley Primary we aim to:

Be self-confident and optimistic and try to reach our personal goals.

Be responsible, make good decisions and respect the views and differences of other people.

Get a good level of knowledge, skills and understanding that will prepare us for the future.

Keep our surroundings safe and be healthy, be interested and motivated in all aspects of school life.

Work hard to use new equipment, particularly in ICT.

All work together to be successful in what we do.

CURRICULUM

In providing for the children, we are guided by the requirements of the National Curriculum and the requirements of the Derbyshire LEA.  The provision at Tansley Primary School takes account Of every aspect of a child’s development. The curriculum gives children the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards of numeracy and literacy whilst ensuring they can become confident in physical artistic, practical and social skills. We provide a broad and balanced education allowing for the individual needs of each child to be met within well-planned learning experiences.

Areas of Learning include:-

Curriculum planning involves all members of the teaching staff to ensure there is progression and continuity in learning as each child passes through the school and all our planning processes give due regard to the requirements of the National Curriculum
