Ashwater Primary School is a small, thriving, rural, community based school. There are two classes the Infant Class which consists of pupils aged 4 - 7 (Reception to Yr 2) and the Junior Class which consists of pupils aged 7 - 11 (Yr 3 - Yr 6).
Infant Class
Mrs Christine Langston is the full time class teacher with Mrs Dawn Barrett as teaching assistant. Mrs Nikki Tope also takes the class on Tuesdays, allowing Mrs Langston to teach ICT to the Juniors and have planning and preparation time.
During this year the number of infant pupils will rise to 23. This will compose of 10 pupils in Year 2, 6 pupils in Year 1 and 7 pupils in Foundation / Reception.
The curriculum is taught through topics with National Literacy and Maths Strategies also in place.
Junior Class
Mrs Debbie Tomlinson (Headteacher) is the full time class teacher with Mrs Mandy Greenaway as teaching assistant. Mrs Louise Watts is the specialist Science teacher and works on Fridays.
During this year the number of junior pupils will be 30. This will compose of 7 pupils in Year 3, 2 pupils in Year 4, 6 pupils in Year 5 and 15 pupils in Year 6.
The curriculum is taught through topics with National Literacy and Maths Strategies also in place.
Music in the Curriculum
Mr Dave Dawson attends Ashwater School on Thursday afternoons to teach Music across the school. Mr Dave Dawson has a magical ability to make music fun and accessible to all. |
