East-the-Water is separated from the rest of the town by the River Torridge. It is quite small (population of about 4,500 but soon to grow by some 1,000 homes through several new build schemes), has a village-like atmosphere and is on the outskirts of the town. We cater for children from Nursery to Year 6 and also run North Devon’s Hearing Support Centre. We have a strong tradition of taking children with a range of disabilities and pride ourselves on our children’s ability and willingness to accept and embrace difference. The children’s behaviour is good, there is an eagerness on their part to learn and work hard and standards are rising all the time. The parents are supportive and a PTA has recently been formed, as has a School Council. We participate in local sporting and arts events with the other schools in the area, and have a commitment to daily exercise through the Take 10 programme.

An After-School club is run at the school every term weekday and during school holidays (details available from the office). We also run several seasonal sporting clubs and field successful teams in local tournaments and events. Key Stage 2 children may have opportunities for residential trips and all classes enjoy regular visits to places of interest to support their learning.
