• There are important skills, attitudes, and aspects of knowledge, which children learn in Primary School. The National Curriculum is the basis for this, enhanced with a variety of creative and physical experiences to provide a broad, balanced and creative curriculum.
• We aim to prepare children physically for a healthy lifestyle by instilling enjoyment of regular physical activity.
• It is important that children develop a good understanding of themselves both as individuals and as learners. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions and to build co-operative and respectful relationships with others.
• Children are encouraged to see themselves both as valuable members of the school and as part of the local community. Our intention is to prepare them to become responsible citizens, willing and able to play their part within a sustainable, global and rapidly changing world.

Our prime aim is to develop positive attitudes to learning within ALL our children.

So, in our teaching we seek to provide a wider, broad based curriculum into which the Literacy and Numeracy strategies and the whole of the National Curriculum can be placed.

PLANNING: Our curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment policies are drawn up, used and revised on a regular basis.

We aim to develop curiosity, initiative, self-confidence and esteem and self discipline, together with a sense of belonging to the school, and the local community.

As a small school we think that one of our strengths lies in the development of personal relationships. We have time to tend to issues of personal, social and moral education due to our scale. We get to know children and parents over the course of several years.

STAFFING: The children spend more time with individual teachers than they might do in a larger school. The teacher and the child enjoy a sustained relationship that allows for a greater understanding of individual concerns and needs.
