Staff at the school, with the support of therapists, employ a variety of means to
ensure that children are given opportunities to learn and communicate. Amongst the
methods used are PECS, TEACCH, Total Communication Strategies.
The school
employs a behaviour management strategy called Team Teach. Information about
these methods and techniques is shared with parents by means of formal Annual
Reviews and informal gatherings, such as Coffee Mornings, etc.
Governors and the Leadership Team are aware of the need to have a motivated,
well-qualified staff team, and to this end have invested heavily in continuing
professional development.
Many staff have completed or are working through NVQ
programmes, and a range of other qualifications.
The school strives to be family friendly. Parents are represented on the governing
body and play an active role in drawing up and reviewing children’s individual
education and care programmes. |
