| WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!
Stoodley Knowle is an independent girls school set in 65 acres of wooded headland, overlooking the sea at Anstey's Cove, Torquay. The school has extensive facilities with many listed buildings of historic interest, including the 13th century Ilsham Chapel which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
We are a Catholic/Christian foundation, a warm and caring community where each individual is considered unique, and equal emphasis is placed on academic performance and personal development. We welcome girls from all Christian denominations and admission is by interview, report from existing school and entrance assessment.
|
| Our nursery is situated in a detached, listed building close to the Junior School, and provides a happy, safe and vibrant environment for these precious formative years.
Our experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated staff concentrate on developing the potential of each individual child in a positive and caring atmosphere. Girls benefit from specialist teachers in several subjects.
Nursery children enjoy activities outside school, using all the local amenities that enrich community life, including discovering autumn at Cockington, seeing The Nativity at Pennywell Farm, and picking strawberries at a nearby farm in the summer.
|
| Life in the Junior school is a balance of hard work, physical exercise, a wide range of extra curricular activities and ample opportunity for creative play. The high achievements of Junior students are a direct reflection of our small classes and specialist teaching in many subjects. Girls complete their Junior School education with an enthusiasm for learning and life.
The curriculum is broad-based with a structured balance between sciences, arts and practical subjects.
The school day is extended for years 3, 4, 5, and 6 so that homework can be finished and girls can take part in club activities such as skiing, computers, sailing and drama before they go home.
|
| We have a tradition of consistently high achievement in both public examinations, and in all other areas of school life, including sport, music, ICT, speech and drama, and extra curricular activities.
We aim to ensure that life in the Senior School is rewarding, enjoyable and successful. These years are a lively mix of academic achievement, creative and sporting activities, and personal development. We encourage intellectual enquiry, and girls develop focused study skills, as well as the ability to think independently and make sound decisions.
The curriculum encourages a balance between the arts and the sciences, integrating the use of ICT as a tool for study.
