WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

The Dolphin School is a friendly community in which boys and girls aged 3 to 11 develop happily with our support and guidance. All our pupils are encouraged to achieve and maintain high academic standards, good manners and self-discipline.

We understand your wish to give your child the best possible start in life and we firmly believe The Dolphin School offers this, at a most reasonable fee level.

ACADEMIC EMPHASIS

Our emphasis is on the basics: reading, writing, arithmetic and touch-typing, which are taught rigorously by enthusiastic staff, keen to see each child succeed. And succeed they do: whether in the national SATs, where recent years' results have been outstanding, or in gaining Awards and Scholarships. We give specialist preparation for Grammar School and Independent School entrance tests (11+).

The full timetable, based on the National Curriculum, is rich and varied and comprises lessons in English, Maths, Science, IT, History, Geography, RE, French, PE, Music, Art, Games and Swimming. Pupils develop excellent study skills and move on confidently with solid academic foundations to the Secondary Schools of their choice.

VARIED ACTIVITIES

Pupils are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities, some are timetabled, others are extra-curricular (after-school clubs, events and trips).

Activities include:

  • Choir and Orchestra concerts
  • Drama productions at Exmouth Pavilion
  • Sports matches
  • Entering (and winning) local art and poetry competitions
  • The Nativity Play and Carol Service at Holy
  • Trinity Church
  • Inter House competitions
  • Outdoor Activities week
  • Visits to Museums, etc.

ADMISSIONS

Admission is by informal interview with the Headmaster. Most pupils start with us at three years old in the Nursery, but entry can be at any age, subject to places being available and receipt of satisfactory references from their previous school. Pupils may be accepted with mild learning difficulties that can be accommodated within our small classes. However, there is currently no provision for the education and welfare for pupils with statements or for whom English is an additional language as there are no such pupils at the school, currently. If, in the future, a pupils does require additional and/or specialist support this could, of course, be provided, but extra fees would have to be charged.
