WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

Yeoford Primary School was opened in 1878. It is still housed in the original, attractive building, which has been considerably modified in recent years, including interactive whiteboards in both classrooms.

Our school grounds and environment are beautiful and the whole school community comes together for our Grounds Day. We utilise our outside environment to provide hands-on learning experiences, including an orienteering course.

The organisation of the school varies with the number of pupils, and the distribution of ages throughout the school. At present we have two classes. Lessons are carefully planned to ensure that work is not repeated by pupils who stay in a class for more than one year, and all children are given tasks of an appropriate level. During lessons, you will see children working in a variety of ways.

AIMS

To provide opportunities for every child to achieve his or her full potential, building on his or her individual strengths and talents.

To provide a secure and supportive environment which enables every child:

  • To become an enthusiastic, confident, independent learner
  • To develop self-discipline, self-respect and self-esteem.
To enable children to achieve the highest possible standards in all areas of school life, by having clearly understood expectations which are used to set targets for improvement.

To encourage children to find personal satisfaction in the ir own achievements, whilst taking a generous attitude towards others in theirs.

CURRICULUM

Our school curriculum follows the most recent version of the National Curriculum produced by the DfES. This requires a core of English, Maths and Science as well as the foundation subjects of Art and Design, Design and Technology, Physical Education, Geography, History, Music and ICT. Religious Education is also taught, although this does not form part of the National Curriculum, and we pay regard to the non-statutory framework for personal, social and health education and citizenship.

We have a policy of keeping parents informed about the requirements and demands of the National Curriculum. We do this by informing parents in advance of the topics which their children will be studying.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

We are always happy to receive offers of help from any parent who is able to run a school club. If your child is interested in learning to play the violin, please contact the school administrator who will be able to give you details of the cost of lessons and of instrument hire.

We constantly strive to provide our children with exciting learning opportunities by bringing in a wide variety of experts to work alongside the children. Events have included story telling; music and mask making; an extremely inspiring visit by the author Simon James, and, of course, our ever popular Gardening Club!
