Situated in 30 acres of glorious Dorset countryside, at Knighton House we provide safe but challenging surroundings in which children can discover their strengths, take risks and make friends. Our main aim is that all the children in our care should be happy and self-assured. If we can achieve this, the rest will follow on quite naturally.

The atmosphere throughout is relaxed and informal yet hard-working. The happiness of each individual in the community is of paramount importance. This is achieved not only through mutual respect, consideration and tolerance; it is also the result of being busy and purposeful and gaining success in one or more of the wide range of academic subjects and extra-curricular activities we offer.

The Orchard: Pre-Preparatory and Nursery

At The Orchard Pre-prep we provide excellent opportunities for the children to develop their talents. We work closely with parents to encourage family values, good manners and respect for others. Through skilful teaching, the children's potential is nurtured and developed so that they grow in confidence and independence. Boarding at Knighton House is fun with small homely dormitories and a friendly family atmosphere. Girls learn how to live together with their peers and develop confidence and self-reliance in a structured and secure environment. Warm relationships between staff and girls enable even the more reserved to flourish.

Full, weekly and flexi-boarders are equally welcome. With plenty to do at weekends and a generous staff to girls ratio, weekly boarders often opt to remain at school while flexi-boarders are soon demanding to be included too. Subject to space and advanced warning, occasional boarding can be provided on request.

At present our main clubs are: Board Games, Gardening and various sports clubs.
