ABOUT US

We are a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School in Bournemouth. Being Voluntary Aided allows the school Governors to appoint staff in sympathy with its Christian ethos.

Although our school name goes back to 1853 when the first ‘St John in the Wilderness’ was built, the school on its present site dates from 1877.

Many of our buildings are either new or have been remodelled. We are very fortunate to have an indoor swimming pool, a studio which we use for music, drama, dance and circle time, a large hall and our ‘IMPACT Centre’, which is where our ICT suite is located.

This school offers a wide range of activities for children - before school, during the lunch break and when school finishes. We are grateful to everyone who gives of their time to run these clubs, not only our own teachers but also people from outside - willing parents, sports coaches, specialist teachers - who are enabling us to offer far more to the boys and girls than before.
