WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

CURRICULUM

The school follows the National Curriculum. There is a strong emphasis on the 3 Rs. The school operates the literacy and numeracy strategies. Adaptations are made for mixed ages as experienced in a small rural school such as ours.

The curriculum is planned on a two-year cycle and follows a long-term planning model, based on the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority's Programmes of Study 2000. Teachers have medium-term (half term) plans and plans for Literacy, Numeracy and curriculum subjects are made each week.

The curriculum is monitored by subject manager and subject governors.

The Headteacher oversees the planning, teaching and learning throughout the school.

CLUBS

The school offers the accommodation for after-school clubs and encourages children to make good use of these opportunities. Currently there are after-school clubs for:

  • Football
  • French
  • Music and Drama

SPECIAL NEEDS

The school has a well-established Special Needs policy. Teachers will consult with parents about any specific learning difficulties your child may experience.

The school follows the Local Education Authority procedures for referral to outside specified agencies, such as the Educational Welfare Officer, Language and Numeracy Support Service, Speech and Language Therapy, and the Educational Psychologist.

There is a Code of Practice detailing graduated stages of support. The school employs a Special Needs teacher to support children with their individual education plans. There is a Special Needs Co-ordinator and a Special Needs Governor.
