ABOUT US
Strathaven Academy was opened in 1905 as a merger between two local primary schools, namely Crosshill Primary and Ballgreen Primary Schools. Up until 1983 the school educated pupils until they reached the end of fourth year. In August of that year the first fifth year pupils were enrolled, and a year later the school became a 6 year non-denominational school serving the town of Strathaven and surrounding rural areas.
Our priority is teaching and learning, encouraging pupils to have high expectations of themselves, to achieve great success and to thrive in our supportive, positive school environment.
A successful HMI Inspection in 2002 was well received by all in the school community. We look forward to a new school opening in 2009. Our Centenary Year, 2005, has been a time of celebration with a number of key events involving pupils, friends and colleagues, past and present. We look forward to continuing success for all in the Strathaven Academy Community.
