All Saints’ Church of England Voluntary Aided School was founded in 1864 and is supported by All Saints’ Church. As an ‘aided’ school, the Governors are responsible for the upkeep of the exterior of the building, aided by the DfES and LEA. The Governors are responsible for 10% of all costs relating to the exterior of the school.

All Saints’ is a community which seeks to develop the full potential of all its pupils within a framework of Christian teaching, values and attitudes.

At All Saints’ we strive to help pupils:

• Become independent in their approach to education
• Develop confidence in themselves and to acquire the ability to meet challenges and sustain a vigorous response to education
• Develop awareness of themselves and sensitivity to others and their environment
• To develop the capacity to sustain sound relationships and willingness to contribute to society

All Saints’ Nursery admits 52 children into the morning and afternoon sessions – 26 in each. The school intake is 34.

The Foundation Stage Unit operates with 2 teachers and a number of Teaching Assistants. Children are taught in vertically grouped classes in KS1 with a maximum of 30 children per class. At KS2 children are taught in specific year groups. Children transfer to secondary school at the end of Year 6

Children throughout the school work very closely with one another. They spend much of their time with their own class teacher but also have the opportunity of working with different teachers, teaching assistants and visiting artists. This also allows teaching staff to take the statutory 10% Planning, Preparation and Assessment time which all teachers are entitled to from September 2005.

All classrooms and teaching areas provide a variety of learning activities including constructural play, practical maths, reading and library facilities and access to excellent ICT and interactive whiteboard resources.

We offer a wide range of additional activities depending upon the availability and expertise of teaching staff and specialist visitors.

These include sports, martial arts, art, drama, games, choir, ICT, music and dance.

Voluntary contributions may be sought to support educational trips.

The Governors have adopted the Manchester Diocesan Board of Education Syllabus as a guideline, and have decided on the following pattern for Key Stages One and Two:

Foundation and Key Stage One (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 & 2

The teaching of the Christianity Units throughout KS1 follows the 5 units identified in the Diocesan Guidelines: The Bible, The Life of Jesus, The Church, Festivals and Christian living.

Key Stage Two (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6)

Children in Key Stage 2 continue to follow aspects of Christianity but also follow a mixture of relevant aspects of Judaism and Islam, including religious buildings, sacred texts and Festivals.
