ABOUT US

From Nursery through to the Sixth Form it is our aim to inspire each pupil to reach their full potential.

We offer:

  • Academic excellence at one of the North's pre-eminent schools
  • Outstanding facilities and resources set in 32 acres of grounds
  • Strong extra curricular and pastoral programmes
  • An emphasis on developing the whole person
  • An inclusive, caring and friendly environment.
Our teaching methods draw on the best of both traditional and modern approaches. As an independent school, the curriculum is guided by the National Curriculum, but not constrained by it. Teachers are allowed to develop their own schemes of work and can tailor lessons and learning to suit individual classes.

NURSERY

Here, at the nursery, we aim to cater for your family's needs in a bright, stimulating environment. We provide the highest standards of childcare and education, ensuring your child develops through as wide a range of experiences as possible.

We have strong links with Beech House (the infant department of Bolton School) but children do not transfer there automatically.

Our aim is to make your child feel loved, secure and "at home". Our nursery establishes the vital foundations of future learning through the wide range of experiences and resources offered.

INFANTS

We offer bright children the opportunity to develop their individual talents in a secure, caring environment and aim to give all our pupils a confident, happy start to school life. We value the different experiences and personalities of our children and enjoy watching them grow and progress through Bolton School.

We firmly believe that every child has talents and we try to provide as wide a variety of activities as possible so that every child can experience success. Our curriculum is carefully planned to give our children the skills and knowledge they need to become responsible, thoughtful young people.

Beech House children move, at the age of seven, to the Girls' Junior School or to Park Road, the Boys' Junior School. Links between the departments are strong.

JUNIORS

Although Bolton School is an academic institution, we are very realistic in our approach, recognising that individuals have different strengths. We provide a wide range of opportunities for our pupils to make the most of their particular talents both within the curriculum and in the many exciting activities which take place outside the classroom.

Underlying everything that we do is a set of simple but far-reaching values: an understanding and respect for others, a sense of responsibility, the importance of self belief, and a realisation that we all depend on each other.

We are proud to be part of a School which combines a strong sense of tradition with real innovation. Our philosophy in the Junior School is a simple one: Do your best in all things, whether in work or in play. Seize the day!

All our pupils enjoy a broad and balanced education within the National Curriculum framework.
