ABOUT US

We are a Voluntary Aided Church of England School provided initially by the Church of England Trustees. This means that we are controlled by the school governors working in conjunction with the Local Education Authority. The Headteacher and staff are appointed by the school governors.

The school is situated in an attractive rural area with good access to motorways. It is a Church of England Aided school enjoying excellent links with the local Church and community. The school mainly serves the local community and new housing developments in the area. Children from local playgroups and nurseries feed into the school, with a significant proportion of them attending Charnock Richard Pre-school Group, (housed in the Parish rooms).

MISSION STATEMENT

The school aims to prepare children for their future by helping them to reach their full potential in the school setting, as part of the Christian family and as members of the community. In working towards this aim, the school will continue to seek:

  • To provide the children with an environment that is both welcoming and stimulating
  • To promote Christian teaching
  • To encourage children to be caring and respectful towards others and the world about them
  • To develop and maintain close relationships between the school, the Parish Church and the whole village community
  • To work towards improving levels of achievement in all aspects of school life.

CURRICULUM

All pupils follow the National Curriculum studying the four core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Information Technology; and Foundation Subjects of Design Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art and Physical Education together with Religious Education.

A variety of teaching methods are used including whole class teaching, group work and individual work. The three R’s still play an important role in the education of children within the school. The aim of our school is to develop each child to his/her maximum potential.

All children will follow a programme of study designed to ensure a broad, balanced and relevant education, meeting the demands of the whole school curriculum.

OUT OF SCHOOL CLUB

The school operates a successful Out-of-School Club between the hours of 3.25pm and 5.20pm. It is open to all children attending the school. The facilities offered are excellent, with two experienced staff operating the club. Parents can book their child into the club on a daily basis or in advance for the term. The number of children attending the club continues to grow and we are very pleased with its success.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Extra curricular activities offered within the school are:

  • Tuition in the playing of various musical instruments.
  • Opportunities to take part in football, skittleball, cricket, athletics and rounders.
  • Inter-school sports competitions, the majority of which take place after school hours.
