ABOUT US

Our school is situated in large grounds with more than adequate playing fields and a large hard play area.

There are seven good sized classrooms, which are well resourced and furnished and a large hall, which is well equipped for PE and also serves as the dining and assembly room.

Other facilities include two library areas, one of which also houses a suite of internet linked computers; a modern, fully carpeted Music and TV Room and several resource bases, which facilitate group and creative work.

We provide a happy, caring environment where we believe children experience real learning, developing their talents for use in later life. Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We hope to extend your knowledge, through regular contact and discussion and so develop a mutual understanding of and responsibility for the education of your child.

CURRICULUM

The general aims of our school curriculum are to extend the children's knowledge of themselves and the world around them, to develop their skills and ideas as individuals and to help them relate to others.

The curriculum in its full sense comprises all the opportunities for learning provided by the school. It includes the formal programme of learning that is the timetable, supplemented with extra curricular activities and developed within a climate of positive relationships.

The curriculum recognises the importance of personal, social, moral and spiritual development and the needs of individual children. This calls for a carefully planned curriculum, which offers progression and continuity, and the matching of work to the ability of each child. Our basic intention is to manage a curriculum which enables each child to realise his/her greatest potential. We aim to create a happy school environment where children learn specific skills; where they develop an enjoyment of learning, of finding out and investigating; and where consideration for others and co-operation within groups forms the basis for all activities.
