ABOUT US

Littlemoor School is a co-educational Primary School for pupils aged 3 – 11 years. The main school was opened in September 1968. The school admission number was increased from 35 to 45 in September 2000. A 30 place Nursery was opened in April 1992.

Littlemoor is a school in which your child will be educated and respected as an individual. It is our aim to provided an environment in which children learn to work and play together in a spirit of respect and co-operation. We attach great importance to self discipline and high standards of behaviour. We aim to provide a rich, stimulating learning environment and we strive to maintain the highest possible standards of literacy and numeracy.

EDUCATION

We believe that Primary Education should be exciting, stimulating, challenging and enjoyable. Our school offers children a wide range of learning opportunities. Our aim is to extend children’s knowledge of themselves and their environment and to develop skills by relating work to their experience. We aim for our children to be self-confident, knowledgeable, literate, numerate, articulate and able to think and reason for themselves.

In line with the National Curriculum, our school offers a broad and balanced range of learning experiences to all its children through: Mathematics, English, Science, Technology and Design, History, Geography, Music, P.E., Art and Craft. We also include Religious Education, Health Education, Personal, Social and Multicultural Education.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

  • Littlemoor has always had a strong sporting tradition. We believe that it is important for children to participate in a variety of sporting activities. The school grounds can accommodate a football pitch and a netball court. An Athletics track is marked out during the summer months. As a result, all pupils are able to participate in football, netball, basketball, rounders, and swimming as part of the school curriculum. Extra-curricular provision, after school includes football, and netball training on a regular basis and participation in local school leagues, competitions and rallies.
  • In recent years ICT has become a strong feature of life at Littlemoor. An Internet club for Year 5/6 runs weekly for most of the year.
  • Booster classes in Literacy and Numeracy are run on a weekly basis throughout the year. These are primarily for Year 6 childen.
