Entry requirements

To enter courses leading directly to a Masters or Doctorate degree, you must hold:

  • a first or second class honours degree from a UK university in a subject relevant to the proposed course of study, or
  • an equivalent qualification, or
  • have successfully completed a Cranfield University Preliminary Year (where offered), or
  • have significant relevant working experience in combination with other qualifications below a 2:2 level.

Exceptionally, a combination of lesser qualifications may be acceptable, but each application is judged on its merits.

English language requirements

To get the most out of their study, English language preparation is vital for those for whom English is a second language. Such candidates will need to provide evidence of their English language ability with their application form.

Our normal minimum requirement is a TOEFL score of 580 (paper test) or 237 (computer test) or 92 (Internet test) or an IELTS 6.5, although a number of our programmes require higher scores. Your offer letter will indicate any particular conditions which may exist.

English language classes are run by The British Council, at language schools in your own country, and through Cranfield University. For information on our University classes, please email: enquiries@cranfield.ac.uk or view the Academic English Summer Programme details.

NB: The Preliminary Year programme is designed to bring candidates to a level in subject expertise and skills which will allow success at Masters level. Further information on this programme is available

Application process

To be considered for a Cranfield programme, please apply either using our paper application form or online. Please note that, for some courses offered by Cranfield School of Management, you are required to complete a different application form.

Double degree Students from European partner universities

Please approach the international representative at your home institution, who will inform you about the application process to the University. Once your application has been accepted by your home institution, it will be passed to us for consideration. Please visit the European Partnership Programme website for more information.
