Welcome!!!
Welcome to St. Thomas’ School Website. This is a new venture for us. We hope you enjoy finding out about our school and all that goes on in it!! If you have any comments or suggestions or indeed something you'd like published please let us know. The following pages are taken from our School Handbook, if you would like a full copy of this, please click on the School Handbook link.
We are a 3 teacher primary school with 62 pupils ranging from 5 - 11 years old. We also have a 15 place nursery class operating 5 morning sessions which currently has 15 children attending. The school is built on the site of the original school building beside St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church. Although we are a Catholic school, we have and welcome children from other denominations and none.
The classes are organised each year to take account of the numbers of children within each group and stage. Currently the 3 classes are organised as follows Pr. 1-3, Pr. 4/5 & Pr. 6/7. We like the positive benefits that a small school brings particularly the family atmosphere, the responsibility that the older children have for the younger ones and the shared working that is possible in mixed classes.

National Science Week |
P4-7 took part in a practical problem-solving competition - to encourage creative thinking, to motivate, to develop independent learning and to have FUN! The challenge was for teams of two or three to create a tree using only card or paper within a given time limit. We spent Thursday afternoon in the school hall designing and making 'trees'. There were housepoint prizes for the tallest tree, the most tree-like tree and for team work. The challenge was set by The BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science) http://www.the-ba.net/the-ba/
We won the competition and our prize was a visit to Peregrine Watch at Huntly. You can see us enjoying ourselves on the Science page in the Curriculum section of our site.
