WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!!!

About...
I am enormously proud to be Head Teacher at Greenleas.
It is a very successful and friendly school and I attribute this to the dedication and commitment of our staff and the strong relationships between staff, children and families.
Our priority is to achieve the very best for every child in our care – every child matters and their individual needs, development and welfare is our number one priority. |
Stephanie Readyhough, with children from the Early Years unit. |
Our children are motivated and enthusiastic and achieve high standards, often above national averages, in English, Mathematics, Science, Music and ICT. This excellence in standards is however balanced against provision of an enriched curriculum in an environment where learning is made enjoyable. This generates a real positive enthusiasm for learning – an attribute which was acknowledged in our most recent Ofsted report.
As a result Greenleas has been named as one of the country’s particularly successful schools, as it has received an outstanding inspection report and also achieved consistently good or improving test and exam results. We continue to build on our success.
I would be pleased to answer any questions by phone or email and if you are a new parent, you are most welcome to visit our school.
Profile
Greenleas is located in beautiful grounds on Derwent Road in Linslade.
The classrooms, which are built around a central courtyard, are bright and sunny.
It is a modern, single storey building with classrooms and corridors on one level to allow access for wheelchair users. |
|
The School caters for children from 3 to 9 years. School hours are 8.50 am to 3.15 pm.
The Early Years Unit is fully integrated with the school and admits children aged three to five. |
|
Values Programme
Each month we focus on a particular topic in our Values Education Programme.
Monthly topics provide a basis for class and whole assembly discussions. In class, children are able to speak with confidence about social and moral issues which concern them. By working together in this way, we endeavour to develop rounded members of society.

Special Needs
Our policy is "Each pupil is valued and has a right to learn regardless of needs or ability."
We believe that all pupils have individual needs, which the school is confident of meeting in all but very exceptional circumstances
Every effort is made for children with special needs, e.g. academic, physical or emotional, to be given access to a broad and balanced curriculum. Advice is sought from professional agencies where appropriate and parents are fully involved. |
|
The school's SEN co-ordinator is Mrs.Stephanie Readyhough (Headteacher).
Children identified as having special educational needs are included in the school’s special needs programme.
An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is drawn up and shared with parents which is assessed regularly and reviewed termly with parents.
The school building has easy wheelchair access.
The Governor for SEN monitors the provision provided by the school, on a regular basis.
Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to meet the aims of the school. It is flexible enough to respond to the need for change and to help pupils acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, including those of communication, decision making and problem solving.
Staff cater for individual needs and offer experiences to stimulate, motivate and foster good attitudes to learning. All pupils are challenged and supported, including more and less able children.
The National Curriculum covers eleven subjects which are Mathematics, English, Science, ICT, Art, Design Technology, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education and Religious Education. |
|
However, we take every opportunity to enrich the curriculum in a variety of ways so that learning is enjoyable, relevant and interesting. Each term the children work on themes which incorporate many aspects of the curriculum. You can find out more about the individual subjects in the prospectus.
There are also a number of extra-curricular activities including French, Computers, football, recorders, music lessons, pottery, tennis, chess, and choir.
The school has a dedicated music teacher and also benefits from visits by Bedfordshire Music Service.
You can find out more about the National Curriculum by following this link to the National Curriculum in Action website.

Spring Term 2007 (update January 4 2007)
This term there will be a range of after school clubs. We always try to make clubs affordable to all, however we are unable to run at a loss and therefore where numbers are lower we will have to increase session charges.
Please fill in the form below to indicate which clubs you would like your child to attend and then we will send you our official forms. Football forms are going out today and will be restricted to first come first served.
