71 years of educational service to the community
"The End of an Era"
The present building which has housed St Kevin's Primary School and served the communities of St John's Parish and the Falls Road since 1933 will close its doors for the last time on June 30th this year, and will relocate to a brand new purpose built school on the same site in September.
A St Kevin's Farewell Committee, made up of past pupils and past and present teaching staff, has been set up to organise a number of functions, lectures, video interviews, exhibitions and open days, to celebrate the part that St Kevin's School played in the lives of the many thousands of students who passed through its doors over the past 71 years.
Because of the outstanding success of the appeal for old school photographs and other memorabilia connected with the school, and also because of the time it will take to reproduce and organise the photographic exhibition, we have had to draw this appeal to a close. We would like to thank everyone who let us scan and reproduce their most treasured possessions, without your cooperation and support this project could not have taken place.
For anyone who has only heard of the photographic exhibition lately, and who has old photographs, please do not hesitate to contact us, as we are still interested, and will do our best to include them as late entries. If you can have the originals copied yourself (preferably on good quality photographic paper) and send us the copies by post or hand then in at the school, it would allow us to concentrate on the exhibition. Please mark all photographs for the attention of;
Miss Reid

St Kevin's was part and parcel of all our lives, and we would like you to be able to take a walk down memory lane, to sit in your old class room, meet old school friends and teachers, look over the old roll books, video record your memories of the school for posterity, bring your children, grandchildren or great grandchildren to show them your school. For older past pupils, we can arrange for you to get "6 of the best", just in case your memory is fading and you forget what it was like!
In order for this to happen we need your active participation and support. It doesn't matter if you still live in St James's, Clondara, La Salle, The Rock Streets, Whiterock or Ballymurphy, whether you still live in Belfast, another part of Ireland, or further afield in England, Scotland, Wales, Europe, America, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, or any other part of the world. We want to hear from you, we want to welcome you home, to join us in our celebrations. We want you to be part of our celebrations under that family umbrella that binds us all together, St Kevin's Primary School, Falls Road, Belfast.
