WELCOME!!!

Oldfield school is set in a middle class area with some council accommodation. There is an interesting ethnic mix of many different cultures.

The school is a single storey building set in the middle of playfields and playgrounds. It comprises a hall, seven classrooms, 2 library areas and seven small teaching rooms for groups/individuals.

The school is heavily oversubscribed, currently taking only from the catchment area. It has 203 pupils arranged in seven year grouped classes. The Reception class adjoins Year 1 and has wide doors that enable co-operative teaching to take place when appropriate. Reception class size is about 20 in September and January terms. In April there is additional staffing for a class of 30.

Our teachers work well in a dedicated, professional team, they will be open minded, enthusiastic about achieving high standards in all aspects of their job, willing to keep up to date with current issues and research and with a commitment to educating and developing the 'whole' child.

All Key Stage One classes at Oldfield have a classroom assistant who works almost full time. With additional help from other Teacher's Assistants who work with Special Educational Needs children, and many volunteers, the teacher is well supported. All teachers also have half a day a week with supply cover to allow them to plan and carry out paperwork.

The school's motto is :"It's fun to learn".

Lunch Menu

  • School lunches are served from 12.00pm for Key Stage 1 and 12.15pm for Key Stage 2. The cost of a 2 course meal is £1.90. Children should bring their money on the day, we would ask that they bring the exact money or as close as possible, no big notes please.
  • Please note that we will be operating with the old menu for the first 3 weeks of term, starting with Week 1. New menus will be sent out to start 24th September 2007.

Menu from 24th September 2007
