Headteacher's Newsletter
Dear Parents / Carers,
I would like to welcome all pupils and families back to school after the long summer break, how lovely it was to see so many smiling faces in the playground on the first day of term! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer and that you are looking forward to the many wonderful events that we have planned for your children this term.
The curriculum booklet contains information about the curriculum for each class; so you can see what your child is learning and perhaps find out more at home, use the local Battle library or look things up on the internet.
You will also find information about the class assemblies and values we will cover this term, our forthcoming coffee mornings and learning walk and an interesting insight into what it is about teaching that really gives our teachers a ‘buzz’.
School Council elections will take place in the next couple of weeks and I look forward to announcing the names of the elected representatives in my first newsletter to you.
May I just take this opportunity to thank staff, pupils and parents for making me feel so welcome in my first week at the school. I am looking forward to working with you all and having the opportunity to build on the school’s many successes.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Karen Salter Headteacher

We will compare own baby photos and examine our hand and footprints. We will also discover what happens to our bodies when we exercise. We are also making birthday charts to find out when everyone’s birthdays are.
Week 4 – Jack and the Beanstalk Our focus this week is the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. We are going to examine the characters and find out what they are like. We will be making calculations using beans eg. 1 bean add 1 more; 2 beans and 3 beans make; take 1 bean away from 4… and we will then use those beans to make musical instruments! Also we will check out our sunflowers and see how much they have grown.
Week 5 – Healthy Food Would anybody like to come in and cook with us this week? If so please see a teacher. We are going to be following and sequencing a recipe, examining the different quantise needed to make a recipe work and look at where food comes from. After our trip we will be writing about our experiences and before we go we will be talking about how to behave. And last but not least we will be making a final check on our sunflowers before we take them home.
