Welcome

Welcome to St Bernard's School Website. Thank you for taking an interest in our school and I hope that you will find our information helpful and of use. We are first and foremost a Catholic school where each child is loved and valued in having a divine origin and an eternal destiny.
The students are wonderful: hardworking, generous, friendly and fun to be with. The teachers are remarkable too and bring so many talents to their work. The extra-curricular life of the school is flourishing and testifies to the service and generosity of the staff. The Bernardine Community, in their daily lives of prayer and service to others, are an example and inspiration to us all. I believe St Bernard's is an excellent school. As you read through our information I hope you will realise this for yourselves.
If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Monday Letter 24th Sept 2007
Dear Parents

There are two enclosures with today’s letter; there is a letter from the Catering Manager regarding the menu and providing information about food provided by the school’s Dining Hall.  I am sure you will find this both helpful and informative.  Secondly, there is a letter from the PTA regarding the 400 club and I would urge as many parents as possible to join this club, since it provides much needed funds for the school and, of course, 50% of the money raised is returned in prizes.

Mission Statement

THE BERNARDINE CISTERCIANS, believing Christ is the answer to all human needs and the foundation of all truth, co-operate in the Apostolic Mission of the Church by their whole monastic life with its educational work. Their Schools endeavour to proclaim Christ through the monastic values of prayer, community living and unselfish service. - The School is, therefore, intended to be a worshipping, prayerful Community where each person is valued for himself or herself and is at the service of all.

Aims

THE SCHOOL aims to promote the spiritual life of the School Community by giving primacy to worship and prayer together.

It aims to develop the potential of all students by encouraging them to learn for themselves in a search for knowledge and truth and to strive for academic excellence. It aims to provide them with the means to take an active part in the field of their choice, with a full and responsible understanding of the rapidly developing world in which they live.

It aims, to provide an opportunity for the balanced development of the student's intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual qualities and to foster an appreciation of those things which add quality to life, by developing creative and artistic gifts and skills.

It aims to be a place of Christian service where all are sensitive to the needs of others; where there is a determination to promote human rights and a recognition of the corresponding duties; where a sense of justice is fostered and an awareness that all people have an equal value.

Most importantly, its purpose is, in partnership with the home and parish, to help all members of the School Community to live the Gospel values of reconciliation and forgiveness and to respond in a Christian way to the challenges of life with its joys and sorrows. Thus it is hoped that each one will be able to achieve a loving relationship with God and all creation; to make the appropriate moral decision; and to grow towards mature membership of the Church.

Dear Parents
