    Message from the Headteacher

I am delighted to present our school to you. We are a lively and hard working community of learners, committed to the education of the whole child and to the provision of opportunities and challenges for all.

Our school motto ‘Where Everyone Matters’ was suggested by the students over ten years ago and we continue to encourage all members of our community to uphold this message and to show respect and care for others.

Our key aim is for our young people to achieve beyond their expectations; in academic study, in sport and in recreational activities. As a three times winner of the DfES School Improvement Award and with designation as a Specialist School for Sport, we believe we are strongly placed to continue to deliver this aim for all in our community.

We see the diversity of our school community as a real strength and we encourage courtesy, consideration and positive relationships between all. The commitment of all those involved in the school, linked with the opportunities for activities beyond the classroom, will continue to lead our students’ development as active citizens, equipped to be the shapers of society.

Our school has developed considerably over the last few years. Academic standards at all levels continue to improve; the quality of specialist provision for Drama, Science, Learning Support, Technology and Information Technology has been significantly enhanced and our specialist status will deliver considerable additional funding for further development over the next four years.

All are welcome to visit our school. We take pride in our achievements to date and invite you to sample The Bulmershe School culture for yourselves and share our values of excellence, trust and tolerance.

Peter Lewis - Headteacher

SCHOOL VALUES

We offer values of excellence, trust and tolerance and our aims are set to give direction and purpose for our work. They are clearly understood by all the school's personnel and they act as a touchstone for all our efforts.

AIMS

 - To deliver a high quality education through all subjects taught and to promote positive personal development through the combined effect of the formal and informal curriculum;

 - To be attentive to individual needs, both academic and pastoral, through a comprehensive monitoring and support system which emphasises the positive at all times;

 - To foster the qualities of caring and the extension of sympathy, understanding and respect for others.

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE

The School Uniform Shop is open throughout the school year on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3.00pm-3.30pm and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8.00am – 8.30am.

A smart, neat appearance is expected as you are representing The Bulmershe School community.  Students who persistently and repeatedly infringe the school uniform rules will be sent home by a Member of Senior Staff until the situation has been appropriately rectified.  Students are reminded that trainers should not be worn at any time, apart from Physical Education lessons and when taking part in extra-curricular activities.  The parents of any student experiencing difficulties in meeting school expectations for uniform for personal, financial or health reasons, must inform the Tutor in writing in the first instance.  If your child is persistently not following the uniform code you may be invited for a meeting to resolve the situation.
