Welcome to QEH

Queen Elizabeth's Hospital is no ordinary school. These pages show a little of those special qualities which make QEH unique, but you need to visit and meet the boys to understand fully why QEH is so different from other schools in Bristol and beyond. The Headmaster - Stephen Holliday

With only 560 Senior and 80 Junior pupils, we know every boy. Individuals matter: there's space for a boy to be himself. Visitors comment on the friendliness and confidence of the boys, and the boys speak about how well they get on with each other and the staff.

We are academically selective but not socially exclusive. There's a good mix of people at QEH. With a curriculum specifically tailored to meet boys' needs, examination results for boys at QEH are second to none in Bristol. It is a pleasure to work in such a unique place and a privilege to play a part in shaping the lives of the young men of QEH.

I hope you will come to visit us and I look forward to meeting you and your son.

Stephen Holliday (Headmaster)

QEH opened its new Junior School for Years 3 to 6 on 4 September 2007.

The Junior School provides an enjoyable and enriched educational experience which is relevant and meaningful for every boy. It shares the strong ethos and values of the Senior School, whilst owning its own unique identity.

We aim to develop each boy's personal qualities, provide a sound foundation for the future, and ensure that every boy leaves recognising himself as a lifelong learner.

It is a unique school in Bristol and, being small, focuses on the individual, fostering a love of learning whilst nurturing the interests and talents of each boy. Each will move on with ease and confidence to secondary education, secure in numeracy and literacy. Like the Senior School, which is renowned nationally for high achievement, the Junior School aims to be a happy place with strong pastoral care, academic excellence, and high standards in drama, sport and music.

I look forward to welcoming your son to QEH Junior School in 2008 or beyond.

Alesa Henham (Headteacher)
